Thank you for taking the time to stop in. I have a profound respect for this work and the people with whom I have the honor of serving. You should know I (and any other therapist) are humans too! Meaning yes, I sing along to songs, laugh at my own amazing jokes, sometimes trip on my own feet. I am generally a positive person, optimistic and hopeful, laid-back temperament, and find humor in most situations. I enjoy balancing life by staying active with fitness and sports, saying yes to new adventures, and forever growing personally and professionally.
I have an experiential/humanistic theoretical orientation to my therapeutic work, which means I believe in presenting as congruent and authentic in my presence and seek to hold clients with positive regard. I believe each person has a natural disposition for growth and was created with deep wonder and value. I believe healing can happen as we give space to our unspoken needs and yearnings and draw closer into alignment with who we are. It is important to me to consider the unique intersectional identities of each client, and how this relates to their context and environment.
Why I love this profession? I am an extravert, community oriented, idealist, and love putting in work to overcome challenges. Therapy provides a unique space where I get to do all these at the same time - working with fellow humans to overcome challenges and reach their ideal!
I received a BA in Fine Arts from California State University East Bay, a MA in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of San Francisco, attended Notre Dame de Namur for a Post Masters Advanced Standing in Art Therapy, and I am currently working towards a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant University.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over a decade of experience in the field. I began my career working with children, couples and families addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, parent-child relationship ruptures, and impact of family stressors on couple’s dynamics. Since then, I have increased clinical focus and trainings for couples therapy and sex therapy, while continuing work with individuals, couples, and families.
In therapy I like to take a "temperature" check in how you're doing for the day, follow up on topics of importance, and create space for what you might be needing from that particular session. I will often reflect back and ask clarifying questions as it is deeply important to me to understand your experience. I believe clients should be empowered, and as such I will often share with transparency the intentions of interventions and how they support the client's goals.
I believe you are interesting, lovable, have a voice worth hearing. I believe you are capable, skillful and resilient. I believe in this work and what you can accomplish simply by showing up. I believe in authenticity, creativity, and the ideal. I believe in loving fellow humans. I believe in the gifts and purpose we were all given. Most of all, I believe in you. With every client who walks through my door, I see you and where you want to go. Your goals feel so real and tangible to me.
Warm, genuine, approachable, present, grounded. I believe in being congruent and authentic as a therapist. This can be described as raw and real. You will often hear me working to step into your shoes and wonder out loud about you and your experience. Together we weave your story together to help create a full picture and find out how we get you to where you want to go.
