I hold a lot of compassion and respect for children and teens, who are often unheard and without power in their families and society. In therapy, I believe in treating our youth with dignity, to empower their voice and sense of self.
I began my therapeutic journey working with children/teens and have been forever grateful. Youth are intelligent, insightful, curious, and full of potential. I believe child/teen therapy can play a pivotal role in supporting the way they will relate to themselves and their environment. These years are their foundational building blocks, and I believe in supporting them with the right tools for them to build their future.
Growing up comes with a lot of new experiences, and a very natural response is to experience a level of fear/anxiety. Learn to identify and give name to your experience of anxiety and learn new tools and ways to cope with your feelings.
Depressive symptoms are a common experience amongst adolescents. Learn to understand what depression is, what your underlying needs are, and how to find space in your life that is positive for you.
Children and teens face many natural transitions like puberty, changing schools, growing bodies, new friends and hobbies, as well as additional transitions like divorce, stepparents, or moving homes. It is natural to experience grief, fear, anxiety and much more. Therapy can support children/teens in processing their experience.
Young adults go through the paramount transition of youth to adulthood, which brings with it many questions of who they are and who they want to be. Learn to navigate identity formation with understanding, skills, and a whole lot of compassion.
Socialization is an important part of our human experience, and particularly relevant during childhood developmental years. Addressing fears, concerns, and ruptures within the social setting can set children and teens up for understanding and developing their social skills.
Learn how to build confidence within self by creating space for self-acceptance, self-exploration, and identifying your deeper needs. In therapy, learn to build new tools and skills to empower yourself as you make new decisions in life.
